Ron Meyers' earliest passion, and his professional goal, was to become a cartoonist — something immediately evident in his inscribed and painted animals and figures. Throughout the work, there is an undeniable ambivalence expressed in even the most benign of creatures, say a rabbit. A sort of, "I can't help myself, the Devil has gotten into me!"

Artist Ron Meyers creates functional pottery that reminds us of casual weekends. It has a gentle playfulness, relaxed and easy-going.
His handling of the clay has a looseness; a laid-back quality that is poised between control and a lack thereof. Complementing the structure of his unique body of work is his painterly approach to design. Whether painting animals or the figure, there is always a sense of movement inherent in his work.
Meyers received his BS and MS degrees in art education from State University College, Buffalo and his MFA degree in ceramics from Rochester Institute of Technology. He was an Artist-in-Residence, Archie Bray Foundation (MT). His work has been exhibited at the Ohio Craft Museum (Columbus).
