JEREMY RUSSELL •   ASHEVILLE, NC

“It is really the physical process that defines the final outcome.  It is the dance that takes place between the original intention and all of the impulses and revisions that is so beautiful.  The actual painting is an immortal ghost of its conception.”

Jeremy Russell is a contemporary abstract expressionist. He defines his journey as a life-long study through visual abstract interpretation.  “I interpret the physical world by breaking it down to its fundamental component, energy.  My painting process is comparable to dancing or playing jazz.  Life can be interpreted through an intuitive and transcendent genesis.  When I experience the rhythm of life, I allow myself to access phenomenal awe that is so overwhelming and inspiring.”

Jeremy Russell received his fine arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Asheville in 2001.  He is the co-owner of the successful commercial art business Brushcan Custom Murals and Hand Painted Signs located in Asheville, NC.  Russell’s work has almost exclusively been shown in academic and not-for-profit venues. Russell’s work can be found in private collections across the United States and Europe.
