JOHN L. CLEAVELAND, JR. Statement

"I paint because I want you to see how I see, to convey to you how the world looks and feels to me.
I share what I have learned about a place by painting it. I want you to walk away from my work with a new template for seeing the world around you, and to leave you full of questions. Looking back on 30 years of work, I realize that I will never get it all done, that I will run out of time before I run out of inspiration."
