Mallorca-based painter Rafel Bestard makes his debut at Blue Spiral 1 with a series of classically rendered figurative paintings. Bestard's process starts with personal encounters, documented through photographs of studio moments and interactions with close friends. By referencing these images, he views his paintings as depictions of performance. Emotional tensions are portrayed through painterly gestures that encapsulate contradictory feelings such as, safety and uncertainty, melancholy and hope, resignation and defiance.
