Jon Rollins and Justin Turcotte

Justin Turcotte sources raw steel from local yards, transforming it into striking geometric forms through a meticulous process that involves hydraulic rollers, presses, and heat. This labor-intensive technique is the result of years of experimentation and hands-on mechanical work. His steel sculptures are especially notable for their dynamic relationship with the surrounding environment and often employ the optical illusion known as a moiré effect. Similarly experimental, John Rollins' abstract paintings offer a careful study in process and resolution. Each piece incorporates layers of collaged scraps, altered with paint, drawing, and razor work, resulting in artifacts that encapsulate the questions, mistakes, and discoveries of their time.
