Sculptor, George Peterson, presents a new body of work in wood and reclaimed skateboards. Through carving, burning, sanding, and painting, Peterson transforms each surface into a permanent record of his gestural, deeply expressive process.
Peterson acknowledges the influence of skate culture on his practice. Like artmaking, skateboarding is a highly personal, inventive act—yet it is also inherently destructive. Boards crack, splinter, and wear down through use, accumulating a unique vocabulary of marks. Peterson’s sculptures honor these traces, elevating the subtle record of impact and motion.
Opening Reception: Friday, January 9th (5-7pm)
